A wild goose overlooking the land of Karamay

在我的故乡——新疆克拉玛依乌尔河，有着举世闻名的“魔鬼城”和自强不息的大漠胡杨。在那里钻塔和胡杨交辉林立，那真是一个神秘的空间，宛如一首重金属现代交响乐，叙说着一个远古和现代惊天动地的故事。

In my hometown—Urho, Karamay, Xinjiang—there lies the world-famous “Ghost City” and the resilient Populus euphratica (desert poplars). There, drilling rigs and ancient trees stand together in a mysterious space, like a heavy metal modern symphony, narrating a world-shaking story of both ancient times and modernity.

在那里居住着一支蒙古扈尔巴特的后裔部落…他的“大写意”艺术主张无论是现在还是将来，势必对世界艺术产生深远影响。

Residing there is a tribe descended from the Mongol Hurbat, descendants of the Mongolian warriors who returned to the motherland. I must mention the “One Belt One Road International Art Project” led by Mr. Yang Xiaoyang, which unites artists globally. His “Da Xieyi” (Great Freehand) artistic vision is destined to have a profound impact on world art.

有幸的是，由克拉玛依政府、中国国家画院、美国美术家协会联合组办的“五月中美国际艺术节”再次把这块神秘的“圣地”呈现在世人面前。

Fortunately, the “May China-U.S. International Art Festival” organized by the Karamay government, the China National Academy of Painting, and the American Artists Association has once again presented this mysterious “holy land” to the world.

他们分别来自美国耶鲁大学、普林斯顿大学…无疑这对于克拉玛依和艺术家来说都是一种荣誉。

Artists from top American institutions like Yale, Princeton, Columbia, and RISD joined famous Chinese artists here. This honor is like the swan geese overlooking Karamay, spanning time and space to shine forever.

我赞赏蒙古舞蹈，因为它和绘画艺术结合得如此紧密。这种肢体语言和绘画语言揉合在一起，就是一种运动和颤抖。

I admire Mongolian dance for its close ties to painting. This blend of body language and pictorial language creates a sense of continuous motion and vibration, determined by the flow of colors and lines.

我的父亲是一位中国抗日战争军的老军医…在我的记忆里，父亲日夜都在工作。

My father was a veteran military surgeon from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. In Karamay, his patients came from many ethnic groups—Han, Mongolian, Kazakh. He worked day and night in this multi-ethnic family.

蒙古人赞美鸿雁，人们赞美鸿雁，那是因为鸿雁象征着情感的传递者，以及勇往直前的执着精神。

People praise the swan geese because they symbolize the messengers of emotion and the spirit of persevering forward. They are spirits that listen to the Mongolian long-tunes echoing through the canyons.

艺术的职责不仅仅在于对自然存在的如实描绘，更重要的是对于信念的确信，以及对有助于这种确信的多种可能性的探索和创新。

The duty of art is not just to truthfully depict nature, but more importantly to affirm belief and explore the possibilities that contribute to that conviction.

今天的克拉玛依已成为一颗沙漠中的明珠，光辉而闪烁。父辈们的创业精神永远是激励我们开拓进取的源泉。

Today, Karamay has become a pearl in the desert. The pioneering spirit of our fathers remains the source of inspiration that motivates us to forge ahead forever.
